BMW E30 Project Going Forward

The BMW Project is going forward, the car has been lowered 1.6 inches (40mm) all around, and brand new clear glass tail lights has been ordered.

The car is going in for a repaint later this summer, but first it will receive Rieger GTS styling front and back with side skirts from a different kit (but matching, of course) since the GTS is only really for CAB and 2 Door E30. I hope that decision brings some uniqueness to this build, since very few if any, has done this combo.

Be back with more and pictures before/after, later :)

So, I found this song laying around, so I had to convert it to mp3 for ya'll. It's acidy/techno thing. Made originally in 95, updated in 97 and fine tuned a bit in 2007. The sound isn't perfect and I'm doing a complete rewamp of the song bringing it more into the Trance genre. I'll release the result of that later. But now..
Here it is: Download

And here it is, the ugly duckling. Only one shot this time, it was raining and I didn't want to ruin my digital camera.

This is how it looks before we've done anything to it.
I'll post more pictures of the car and the parts I plan on putting into and onto it :)

First thing I'll do though is put in a new battery and replace some bad parts with the steering with some new ones. There's too much dead zone on the wheel. And that's gotta get fixed or I don't get any plates.

BMW 320i E30 Engine Conversion

I've found an engine swap kit for my E30 consisting of a brand new M50B25 engine, gearbox and engine mount conversion. This engine was first seen in the 92 E36 BMW models and has a performance of 192bhp and 245NM (Newtonmeters). As opposed to the M20B20 sitting in the car at the moment performing only 127bhp. The kit cost about 2500 USD, and I'll be ordering it before the summer along with a body styling kit. After all the work has been done the car will be repainted making it look brand new.

Plan for 2008 is then to add a turbo kit and aftermarket total engine control (TEC GT) ecu, new injectors, JE forged pistons, H-profile rods and upgraded drive train and brakes.

Right now the car has an automatic transmission, but it will be replaced by a stick shift gearbox (of course).

Total costs for 2007 should come in just under 7250 USD + labour. I plan on doing most of the work myself as I have the tools needed.

The used cars market for these kind of cars seems to put the value of such a car at about 8-9000 USD after the conversion, so I don't think it's a totally wasted investment. But of course, the primary goal is to create a fun driving machine.

I will put up some pictures of how the car looks before I start the work and then post pictures as the work progresses. But work won't start on it until around March/April. There is a lot of planning that has to be done first too, so I avoid making any huge mistakes with that parts I put in.

BMW 320i

So I aquired this BMW 320i E30, it's really run down and needs lots of tender loving care. I'll post a few pictures of it later to show you all how it looks.

Then I'll start fixing it up. My plan is to post pictures of it as this new little project of mine progresses. It'll take a while though because right now I'm not employed anywhere, and fixing a car takes a bit of cash ;)

Until then.

Digging in the Archives.

Was digging in the archives the other day and found a few 'tunes' I made something like a decade ago. Anyway, thought I'd share one of them with the good folk' here on coremud.

The file is in Ogg Vobis format and takes up about 3MB on disk.

Enjoy (And feel free to laugh your socks off... I did)

The song has been released under the name of 'Paranoid' with the group of 'Depth' as I was at the time something called a 'scener' in what we'd call the 'demo scene'. It's primarily an European phenomenon. If you're interested to know more I'm sure there's a lot of resources you can search out on the web for info.

Not everyday you get to download free music without getting sued, is it?

Carinia's Kittens

So, we all know about Carinia's kittens by now, but here's the real
story about how they came to be, and how it all has turned out so far...

One night Carinia's cat was spending the night out on town, getting all souped up and wasted...

...she found herself (the cat) pregnant.

Later Carinia's cat had kittens, and Carinia soon put them to good
use...

Now, couple these events together and you get Psycho Kittens...

So currently there's a fight for survival going on.

Will Carinia slay all the evil kittens, or will the kittens get Carinia first?

To be continued...
